Zero Balancing is both a touch skill and a protocol. The practitioner is taught to work with body energy and body structure simultaneously and consciously at interface. In this way, the touch is very clear, well-boundaried and always feels good.

Receive it.

Zero Balancing is a manual mind-body therapy that was develped in the 1970’s by Dr. Fritz Smith, MD and is based on his studies of osteopathy and western medicine in the 1950’s followed by bodywork trainings at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA in the 60’s & 70’s. There he was exposed to and trained in a myriad of alternative therapies including acupuncture and Rolfing at a very propitious time in the world of bodywork.

Sessions are

  • face up and fully clothed

  • last 35-45 minutes

Starting at the pelvis and working up, the lower back is addressed first and then hips, feet, upper back, neck, head and arms with closing fulcrums down the back to the feet again as the finishing touch. The client is then assisted to sit up and then stand. Under most circumstances, the client will feel taller, clearer, more grounded and aligned. There is a feeling of integrated resiliency that develops over the course of time and treatments. Eventually, this integration and resiliency show up in the person’s relationships and the quality of life and life choices. Their baseline of health goes up!

Learn it.

I can hep you get certified in Zero Balancing!

As a life-long learner, I LOVE ZB! I have been a student and practitioner since 1999. I began teaching in 2012 and am ceritfied to teach:

  • Core I and Core II (beginning classes) (25hrs/CEU’s each)

  • Freely Moveable Joints, Alchemy of Touch & Geometry of Healing. (second tier classes)(25hrs/CEU’s each)

  • Advancing Skills Days (6hrs/CEU’s)

Because I teach in a small space, classes are small, usually 4 people plus an assistant or two. In this way, the student receives more individual attention and potentially walks away with a firmer grasp of the information.

For more information about certification in Zero Balancing, contact me for details or go to zerobalanicing.com. Our community is rich, and more importantly, IS A COMMUNITY. We host regular Study Days that are at no extra cost to practitioners and are considered a shared gift to the ZB community. At these study days, we usually cover a short topic and then share a meal or snacks. Lifelong relationships are cemented in this way.

Practice it.

A Zero Balancing theme is “Live Life in Balance”. Zero Balancing is a life-long practice. Once you get it in your hands, your world begings to open up in a whole new way. It will begin to inform everything you do and your touch will never be the same.

This is no small thing. Eastern practices such as yoga, tai chi, chi kung, and martial arts are physical practices meant to align the structure and energy of the practitioner. In Zero Balancing, the practitioner does the same but for another person. The Zero Balancer facilitates the movement of energy through the body of the receiver. This works to align their wiring with their structure. Because the sensation of working with body energy through body structure is an uncommon sensation, the tendency is for the person to go into what can be described as a “deep meditative state”. At the same time, the practitioner (with some practice) does as well. The session becomes a moving meditation for the practitioner who ALSO RECEIVES THE BENEFITS of treatment.

Zero Balancing is about connection as well. Students are trained to tune in to themselves first before starting a session. It is an awareness practice that is conscious about what and how the person is touching and at what level.
